Top 9 Most Useful Baby Products For New Parents

Having recently found myself dealing with parenthood, I created a list of the top 9 most useful baby products for new parents. These are items my wife and I tried for our baby’s first year. There are actually more than 9 products that we found really useful, but I’ll share them in a different post to keep this one a bit more centered.

In case you are in a hurry, here are the items I’m recommending on this post, but I suggest to keep reading below for more context. These are my affiliate links:

Categories

Even though I put some effort into showcasing useful products across many categories, here I decided to prioritize sharing the ones we use the most and which save us a lot of time. Also, I highly recommend creating an Amazon Baby Registry for the products I mention here. By adding them to the registry, there are some discounts that apply.

Car Seat and Stroller

Evenflo Pivot Modular Travel System with LiteMax Infant Car Seat

For us, the car seat and stroller combo from Evenflo was essential (we could not leave the hospital without a car seat installed in the car). We used the car seat from the moment we left the hospital. The stroller also came in handy shortly after when we took our baby to its first pediatrician appointments.

Even though the Evenflo Pivot combo seems expensive, I like how sturdy it feels in comparison to other travel systems. It also had a lot of good reviews on Amazon, which helped cement our decision to buy it. That being said, I have not tried other ones, I’m just sharing our experience with the one we have.

Convertible Baby Crib, Mattress and Baby Monitor

Delta Children Canton 4+1 convertible crib

Obviously, a crib is one of the items you need to have installed way before the baby arrives because you will need it immediately. We decided to try the Delta Children Canton 4+1 convertible crib.

One thing we liked about this crib is is ability to grow with the baby. It can be converted into a full bed. So that means our child can take the crib to college (I’m joking).

The next two items fall under this same category:

Dream On Me Honeycomb Orthopedic Firm Fiber Standard Baby Crib Mattress

This particular mattress had good reviews and we wanted something firm. Some of the reviews complained that it was too firm, but at home we found it to be very comfortable for our baby.

XDR-8 Pro Baby monitor

To be honest, we did not need a baby monitor for the first month or two because the baby was always with us. However, as time passes, it’s important to let them sleep early and without disruption. A baby monitor is perfect for this. The XDR-8 Pro baby monitor is a bit on the pricier side, but it comes with several attributes we were looking for, such as:

  • Has standalone monitor with good resolution (720p)
  • It uses radio instead of Wi-Fi (this fact might be a pro or a con, depending on your needs)
  • The camera can be rotated remotely via the monitor
  • Monitor supports pairing up to 4 cameras to it. This means we can add more if we need them in the future.

Diaper Related Items

Changing table (maybe also drawers)

I highly suggest investing in anything that will make nursing and changing diapers easier. In our case, we got the Dream On Me Emily Changing Table. It has space to add your own removable drawers, like these and you can add a changing pillow on top, such as this one. We preferred to get a table without drawers and buy the baskets separately, but in case you want the baskets included, this changing table seems to be good (we have not tried it). If you have a two-story house, then I suggest having a changing table on each floor.

Diaper Genie Complete

The next item in my list is the Diaper Genie Complete. It is basically a dedicated trash can for diapers. It seals in the smell and it’s very convenient because we we only need to change the bag every few days.

Disposable Changing Pads

My wife and I discovered how convenient it is to have these disposable changing pads on top of the cushioned changing pad. They have saved us many times from poop and pee explosions and makes cleaning very easy. Instead of having to change the washable cloth on the cushioned pad, we simply throw the soiled disposable one and replace it for a new one.

Nursing Baby Products

Costzon Nursery Glider with Ottoman

With this chair, nursing our baby is a lot more comfortable, be it breastfeeding or bottle feeding. Additionally, we can rock back and forth and calm the baby down.

My Brest Friend Deluxe Nursing Pillow for Breastfeeding & Bottle Feeding

We really like this pillow for feeding sessions. Whether it is breastfeeding or bottle feeding, it provides needed support so we don’t have to hold the baby with our arms during the whole session. When combined with the nursery glider, it makes for a pleasant time with our baby.

Conclusion

Here I shared some of the baby items my wife and I found most useful as new parents. Hopefully you found this list useful and took advantage of some of the discounts during this sale event. Let me know if you have other baby products that you found useful. We will welcome new ideas.
